Hazlewood station closed to passengers with the closure of the Wirksworth branch in 1947. It did not see another passenger service for 55 years until the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway opening in 2002. Although there are no plans to reopen the station itself, the building remains, and there is even a name board. On a very warm October day, W55006 Class 122 railcar trundles along the branch line bound for Duffield.
