EP09-015 crosses Nogat with the EIC45000 (103) Sobieski. This picture was taken from the northern bridgehead of the former road-rail bridge, which carried the narrow gauge railway from the station in Kalthof (post-war: Malbork Kałdowo Wąskotorowy) into the grounds of the Malbork castle and further towards Marienburg Kleinbahnhof (Malbork Wąskotorowy). The line then continued to Lichtfelde (Świetliki). Destroyed during the WW2, this bridge was never rebuilt.
One of the evening fast services from Gdynia to Warsaw, the EIC5102 Gdynia Główna - Warszawa Zachodnia reduces the speed ahead of the station stop in Malbork. Formed of an EP09 and seven carriages, this might be your choice if you prefer loco-hauled trains over the Pendolinos.
It’s really impressive how much the Tricity has improved its appearance over the last decade. On a perfect Friday afternoon, SA133-027 approaches the recently modernised Sopot station. The formation is quite unique, as it features a modernised 120A coach. Back in the late 1990s, the components of these carriages have been used in the construction of the PESA’s first railbus, the ‘Regio Partner’ SA106-001.
